title fonts used in Horror and Mystery films/experimentation with titles and fonts

Fonts used in Horror films

There are a lot of different fonts in horror, but the ones I wouldn't mind using are:
  • American Gothic typeface, this is the style that is famously used in Fright Night.
  • Saw font, the font style they use in saw
I'm also playing with some ideas for a title and the one I like most right now is "The Girl in the Woods". If i don't go with this I will go with The Girl, the Wolf and the Lumberjack

Fonts used in Mystery Films

Again there are a lot of different font types in mystery films, the ones that I might use are:
  • Roswell font - this one is used in a American sci-fi TV show called Roswell which is based on the Roswell high books
  • Bickham script typeface - this is the font style that the Pretty Little Liars title is in.
Saw Font

Roswell Font

The effect  that the saw font has on an audience is that it puts them on edge, which means they're really jumpy and even easier to scare, so when the film starts or the soundtrack (usually dark and spooky) starts the it doesnt take as much to scare them so when they are scared their adrenaline starts pumping which makes them even more edgy, this makes it easier for the film to play on their primal instincts and fears.

The effect the that the Roswell font has on the audience is that it intrigues them and draws them in, pair this with the right background and you will have something that grabs their attention.
